Our Commitment

As manifested in our Statement of Values, Lethbridge Community College is committed to providing "accessibility to learning opportunities by openness and through flexible responses to learner needs to achieve academic goals". Therefore, we want to provide those students with physical or learning disabilities, an estimated 2 to 5% of post-secondary students, access to our programs and services by minimizing barriers to learning opportunities.

Support for Students with Disabilities

The Coordinator's office is committed to supporting students with physical and learning disabilities by providing individualized learning support, coordinating necessary services, facilitating the use of appropriate technologies and acting as a resource to faculty members. Support services to disabled students may include

  • Formal and/or informal assessment
  • Referrals to additional services or agencies
  • Developmental study to improve reading, writing, math and study skills
  • Course support
  • Training in the use of assistive technology
  • Communication with faculty
  • Facillitation of special accommodations*

*Students with disabilities who require special accommodations must make those arrangements through Julie Deimert, Coordinator of Services for Students with Special Needs

If you think you may be a special needs student, view our presentation. (Use the back button on your browser to return to this page.)

For further information, please contact the Coordinator of Services for Students with Special Needs, Julie Deimert, or phone (403) 320-3244.
