The increase
in business and industrial crime has created problems which are
sometimes outside the responsibility of the police. The losses suffered
annually, because of both internal and external dishonesty, have
generated the need for competent and well-trained security personnel
who can provide safety and the necessary services to protect corporate
assets, including personnel, material and proprietary information.
The Risk Management
one year certificate equips graduates with the knowledge and skills
to provide such services. Risk management is aimed at providing
the client with knowledge on prevention.

selected from outside the Business Administration program must
be approved by the Program Leader of Business Administration.
- The independent
study (BIS) courses are presented in an individualized format
and may contain course outlines, objectives, instructional materials,
and assignments. Although the business instructors provide a limited
amount of advisory assistance, the students are expected to show
their ability to complete the BIS course on their own.

must take the following courses as part of the Business Administration
diploma requirements: ORG 255, BUS 268 and BUS 298. Ten Athabasca
University courses will then be required for the Athabasca University
Bachelor of Administration degree.
- Students
continuing on to the Post-Diploma program at the University of
Lethbridge are recommended to include BUS 292 and STS 250 as part
