FIRE INVESTIGATION AND PREVENTION
The Fire Investigation and Prevention certificate program helps Fire Department personnel who completed their fire suppression training and are currently employed as a Fire Prevention Officer or are contemplating a move into this area. Advance credit is given for fire suppression training. The program has been primarily set up for part-time students. All courses are not taught every term.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Admission to the Fire Investigation and Prevention program is restricted to those persons who are certified by their department to have completed sufficient training for a First Class Fire Fighter or equivalent with the Lethbridge Fire Department; or for a member of a volunteer or small fire department, a certificate to like effect from the Fire Commissioner (or Deputy). Applicants should also ensure that they have an adequate high school diploma background to enable them to handle the courses in this program. Acceptance in all cases is subject to departmental approval.

PRIOR LEARNING ASSESSMENT
Students accepted into this program have the opportunity to apply related employment, volunteer, educational or training experiences toward the completion of the program. For information on Prior Learning Assessment, students should contact the Registrar’s Office.

GRADUATION
Upon successful completion of all program requirements, students are awarded a Certificate in Fire Investigation and Prevention.

FIRE SERVICE
ADMINISTRATION

The Fire Service Administration certificate program has been designed to help Fire Department personnel who completed their fire suppression training and wish to advance to fire service administration. Upon completion of this program, students are awarded a certificate in Fire Service Administration. The program has been designed for part-time students. All courses are not taught every term.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Admission to the Fire Service Administration program is restricted to those persons who completed their fire suppression training and are certified by their fire department to have completed sufficient training for a First Class Fire Fighter or equivalent as designated by the Lethbridge Fire Department.

Students accepted into this program have the opportunity to apply related employment, volunteer, educational or training experiences toward the completion of the program. For information on Prior Learning Assessment, students should contact the Registrar’s Office.

GRADUATION
To graduate, students must successfully complete all courses in the curriculum and obtain a minimum overall grade point average of 1.50. As well, students must successfully complete Human resource Management for the Fire Service and Leadership for the Fire Service, two courses offered by the provincially-sponsored Fire Training School in Vermilion, Alberta, in addition to their Fire Training school courses.
